Driven by the global energy transition and the goal of "carbon neutrality," power batteries—serving as the core enabler in fields such as new-energy vehicles, energy-storage systems, and smart grids—are accelerating the development of the green energy revolution. With advances in technology and industrial upgrades, the application scenarios for power batteries have expanded beyond the traditional automotive sector to encompass a diversified ecosystem including industrial energy storage, the low-altitude economy, intelligent robotics, smart cities, and the circular economy.

As the “Capital of China’s Power Battery Industry,” Yibin City plays a vital role in the development of the power battery industry. It will proactively assume its responsibilities, promote cross-sector integration and synergistic development across the power battery industrial chain and diversified application scenarios, turning isolated points into pearls, stringing pearls into chains, and assembling chains into clusters.

As a concurrent event of the World Battery Conference, the Power Battery Application Ecology Exhibition, with strong support from relevant authorities and all sectors of society, centers on the theme of “New Vision, New Ecosystem, New Opportunities.” Focusing on the entire value chain—from material innovation and intelligent manufacturing to scenario reconstruction and circular recycling—it aims to build a closed-loop ecosystem spanning from laboratory research to commercialization. The exhibition serves as a global platform for showcasing, exchanging ideas, and fostering collaboration within the power battery industry chain, driving technological innovation, integrating resources, and jointly developing a robust ecosystem, thereby promoting high-quality growth in the power battery industry and related sectors.

 

▎ Past Editions Review

With the approval of the State Council, the “2022 World Battery Industry Conference,” hosted by the People’s Government of Sichuan Province and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, was successfully held from July 21 to 23, 2022, in Yibin, Sichuan. This conference marks the first specialized exhibition and convention on power batteries approved by the Chinese government, and it is also China’s sole platform for aggregating the entire value chain of the power battery industry. The inaugural conference attracted over 900 guests from 16 countries and regions, resulting in the signing of 48 projects worth nearly 100 billion yuan. It also saw the release of achievements such as the “Global Top 12 Power Battery Companies” list, the awarding of plaques to the Sichuan Province Power Battery Industry Innovation Center and the Sichuan Province New Energy Vehicle Advanced Power Technology Innovation Center, and the launch of the construction of a special town dedicated to power batteries. Concurrent with the conference, the exhibition drew 287 global companies specializing in power batteries and new-energy vehicles—including 23 Fortune Global 500 firms and 26 of the world’s top 30 new-energy vehicle manufacturers—showcasing more than 100 new technologies and over 140 new-energy vehicle models. In 2023, the conference significantly expanded in scale: the number of attendees surged to over 1,700, with 64 projects signed totaling 106.3 billion yuan. More than 10 key outcomes were released, including the “Power Battery Industry Development Index.” The exhibition area reached 55,000 square meters, drawing 338 participating companies eager to showcase their innovations. For the first time, cutting-edge technologies such as solid-state batteries and large-scale AI models were featured. The number of on-site visitors exceeded 100,000, while online viewership surpassed 27 million. In 2024, the conference was accompanied by the “Green and Low-Carbon Mobility Exhibition on Power Batteries,” attracting international exhibitors from the United Arab Emirates, Germany, Japan, France, the United States, Singapore, and other countries. The event brought together Chinese and foreign guests, leading academicians and experts, and major industry players, resulting in the signing of 137 projects worth a total of 95.25 billion yuan. The event received extensive coverage from mainstream media outlets such as CCTV and garnered high praise from all sectors of society. Over the past three consecutive conferences, a total of 249 projects have been signed, with a combined value approaching 300 billion yuan. More than 340 technological achievements related to power batteries and associated fields have been released, and over 300 new-energy vehicle models have been showcased. These efforts have successfully propelled Yibin to become the “Power Battery Capital,” earning widespread recognition within the industry as a global benchmark for power battery technology and a comprehensive platform for the entire industry chain, thereby significantly enhancing Sichuan’s—and China’s—prominence in the global new-energy industry landscape.
