The Russian International Exhibition of Construction and Engineering Machinery (CTT EXPO) is a highly influential international trade show for construction and engineering machinery in Russia, Central Asia, and Eastern Europe. Founded in 1999, the exhibition is held annually. In 2025, the exhibition reached a new record high in scale, with a total exhibition area of 112,500 square meters. It attracted 902 exhibitors from 12 countries and drew 66,015 professional visitors.
For 15 consecutive years, China has maintained its position as Russia’s largest trading partner. In 2024, bilateral trade between China and Russia reached 244.8 billion U.S. dollars, an increase of 1.9% over the previous year, setting a new historical high. Leonid Slutsky, Chairman of the Committee on International Affairs of the Russian State Duma and Chairman of the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia, told a reporter from the Economic Daily that economic and trade cooperation between China and Russia continues to deepen and improve, injecting vigorous momentum into the development of bilateral relations. Among these efforts, regional cooperation will become an important growth driver for practical, mutually beneficial bilateral ties.
Slutsky’s analysis points out that the products of the two countries are highly complementary. Most of Russia’s exports consist of energy resources such as oil, natural gas, and coal. Other key products Russia supplies to China include metals, timber, seafood, and agricultural products. Meanwhile, China exports to Russia automobiles, tractors, computers, smartphones, industrial and specialized equipment, toys, footwear, air conditioners, and computers, among other goods. According to the Russian Ministry of Economic Development, as of August 2024, Russia and China are jointly implementing 86 large-scale projects with total investment expected to reach 18 trillion rubles. These investments span a variety of sectors, including raw materials and chemicals, agriculture and the automotive industry, household appliance manufacturing, as well as the development of transportation and logistics infrastructure.
