Hannover Industrial Fair in Germany

The Hannover Messe, organized by Deutsche Messe AG, is a large-scale, comprehensive international industrial trade fair that was first held in August 1947. It takes place annually at the Hannover International Exhibition Center and is widely recognized as one of the most important global events connecting the technological and business communities worldwide. The fair leads innovation and development in the global industrial sector and truly serves as a barometer for the world’s industrial progress. In 2025, the Hannover Messe attracted approximately 4,000 exhibiting companies from 60 countries and regions around the globe, with international exhibitors accounting for 68% of the total. The exhibition was spread across 17 pavilions, drawing a total of about 127,000 visitors, over 40% of whom came from outside Germany. As a major global industrial power, China consistently ranks first among exhibitors from countries other than Germany. This year’s fair welcomed more than 900 Chinese exhibitors, occupying an exhibition space totaling over 16,000 square meters.
Currently, European industries are facing challenges such as soaring energy costs and the impact of U.S. tariff policies. At the same time, however, they are actively promoting green transformation and the development of smart manufacturing. The EU’s “Net-Zero Industry Act” and its investments in clean technologies like hydrogen demonstrate its determination to reduce reliance on imported energy and enhance competitiveness. Moreover, Europe’s “Lighthouse Factory” model continues to maintain a global lead in the field of smart manufacturing, providing valuable lessons for Industry 4.0 and digital transformation. Although U.S. tariff policies have prompted some European companies to adjust their supply chains, China and Europe share common interests in addressing global trade challenges and promoting multilateral trade, creating an opportunity for both sides to deepen their cooperation. In particular, there is tremendous potential for China-Europe collaboration in the areas of green development and digital transformation. The European market’s growing demand for innovative technologies and solutions presents Chinese exhibitors with an excellent opportunity to showcase their strengths and expand into international markets.
The 2026 Hannover Industrial Fair will continue to focus on several key industrial technology sectors, including smart manufacturing, industrial components and solutions, industrial energy, digital ecosystems, innovative technologies and the future of production, as well as trade and investment. The fair will showcase industry-leading innovative and pioneering products and solutions, and further explore synergies among all these solutions.
