International Metal Forming Machinery and Tools Exhibition, Bangalore, India

The India International Machine Tools (Forming Technology) and Tool Exhibition (IMTEX FORMING & TOOLTECH), organized by the Indian Machine Tool Manufacturers’ Association (IMTMA), is a large-scale, internationally specialized trade show with a history spanning over 40 years. It is one of the largest machine tool exhibitions in the South Asian region, held every two years—on odd-numbered years focusing on cutting technologies and on even-numbered years on forming technologies. In 2024, the exhibition covered an area of 45,000 square meters, bringing together more than 625 exhibitors from 20 countries and regions, and attracting 44,779 visitors from 45 countries and regions for networking and business discussions.
India is a member of both the BRICS countries and the G20. Driven by demand from the domestic market, India’s machine tool market continues to show strong growth momentum. In the automotive sector, according to data from the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), India’s new car sales exceeded 5.2 million units in 2024, representing a year-on-year increase of over 10%. In the electronics and information technology sector, the Indian government continues to promote the “Make in India Semiconductor Mission,” supporting the construction of several large-scale wafer fabrication plants, thereby gradually fostering the development of a robust local semiconductor industry ecosystem. Moreover, India is experiencing a new wave of growth in downstream sectors such as defense manufacturing and aerospace, all of which are playing a significant role in driving the expansion of the machine tool market.
Chinese products’ performance and pricing are highly aligned with the needs of the Indian market, and the scale of bilateral trade between China and India continues to expand. According to Chinese customs statistics, in 2024, the total value of China-India goods trade reached 142.85 billion U.S. dollars, representing an increase of approximately 4.9% year-on-year and hitting a new all-time high. Among this total, China’s exports to India amounted to 123.57 billion U.S. dollars, up about 5.0% year-on-year.
