Nagoya International Mould & Die Exhibition in Japan

The Nagoya International Mould Exhibition (INTERMOLD) in Japan is organized by the Japan Mould Manufacturers Association. Held annually, it receives strong support from institutions including Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Nagoya City Government, Nagoya Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the Japan External Trade Organization. In 2024, the Nagoya International Mould Exhibition attracted 391 exhibitors and welcomed a total of 38,998 professional visitors over its three-day run.
Aichi Prefecture, where Nagoya is located, is a vital transportation and logistics hub in Japan. The automotive industry accounts for approximately 40% of Japan’s total automobile production value, making it the region’s pillar industry. This area is home to Toyota—the world’s largest automaker—as well as Denso, a major automotive parts supplier in which Toyota holds a stake, and numerous production bases of other leading automakers such as Mitsubishi, Suzuki, and the Volkswagen Group. In recent years, as major automakers like Toyota have established numerous assembly plants overseas, Aichi Prefecture has gradually transformed into a center for the research, development, and manufacturing of automotive components. Currently, about half of Japan’s automotive components are produced in this prefecture. Aichi Prefecture has developed a comprehensive automotive industry cluster that integrates component manufacturing with vehicle assembly. The region now boasts a total of 14 automotive manufacturing facilities, including six complete-vehicle assembly plants and eight component-manufacturing plants.
Previously, the Japanese government launched the “Aichi Prefecture Automotive Industry Innovation Program,” aimed at promoting technological upgrades among small and medium-sized enterprises and fostering innovation in materials, systems, energy sources, and related technologies required for next-generation vehicles. For the INTERMOLD series of exhibitions, holding a similar event in Nagoya—in addition to Tokyo and Osaka—represents an important strategic choice for showcasing Japan’s mold technology on the global stage.
