From September 4 to 7, 2019, the 15th China (Beijing) International Construction Machinery, Building Materials Machinery, and Mining Machinery Exhibition & Technical Exchange Fair—under the theme “Intelligent Connectivity for a Green Future”—opened grandly at the New Hall of the China International Exhibition Center. BICES 2019 featured an exhibition area exceeding 150,000 square meters, representing a substantial increase in net exhibition space. A total of 1,263 companies from 31 countries and regions around the world participated in the event, marking a year-on-year growth of 20.17% in the number of exhibitors. The fair attracted 151,835 professional visitors—including government officials from 76 countries and regions, foreign diplomats accredited to China, key end-users, industry associations, experts and scholars—as well as members of the general public. This represented a year-on-year increase of 22.19% in visitor attendance. More than 200 news media outlets, both within and outside the industry, including People’s Daily, Xinhua News Agency, CCTV, Beijing Television, and others, covered the event. The successful organization of BICES 2019 was made possible thanks to the strong support of relevant national ministries and commissions, Beijing municipal authorities, the 32 branches affiliated with the China National Machinery Industry Federation and the China Construction Machinery Industry Association, various industry associations and learned societies, news media, and especially the numerous exhibiting companies and user organizations. At the grand opening ceremony held on the first day of the exhibition, the exhibition was officially opened by Wang Ruixiang, President of the China National Machinery Industry Federation. This year marks the 70th anniversary of the founding of New China and the 30th anniversary of the Beijing BICES exhibition. On behalf of Kawasaki, I would like to extend our warmest congratulations on the successful conclusion of the 2019 Beijing BICES exhibition. We also sincerely thank the Construction Machinery Industry Association for providing such a valuable platform for industry exchange.

At this exhibition, our company showcased our latest ICT fully electric-controlled hydraulic system for excavators, as well as the HST hydrostatic drive system used in construction machinery beyond excavators. This time, we also used a dual-LED large-screen presentation to share with attendees detailed information on our products, technologies, and system applications, earning high recognition from both customers and industry peers. Foot traffic at our booth increased by 9.7% compared to the previous edition, and we feel deeply honored by this success.

As always, we will continue to fulfill our responsibilities as a supplier, align with national policies, and provide the industry with more intelligent, automated, and electronic environmentally friendly hydraulic technologies. We also look forward to the Beijing BICES exhibition—organized by the China Construction Machinery Industry Association—drawing even more professionals from home and abroad. This exhibition coincides with the 70th anniversary of National Day, and the venue is brimming with a vibrant atmosphere celebrating this milestone. The exhibition features a fascinating retrospective on the 70-year history of construction machinery, as well as exciting events such as awards honoring individuals and products that have made significant contributions over the past seven decades. At the same time, the caliber of exhibitors has further improved; the large-scale participation of domestic OEMs like Sany underscores China’s growing strength in independent innovation. Moreover, groups of OEMs from Europe, the U.S., Japan, and South Korea are showcasing their products at the event, signaling that the robust momentum of the Chinese market will continue to thrive. Additionally, with as many as three and a half halls dedicated to component suppliers, the exhibition provides OEMs with excellent opportunities for negotiations and procurement. The exhibition has consistently enjoyed tremendous popularity—on the very first day, Sany secured purchase orders for 100 excavators of the 750 model, with total orders reaching an impressive 300 million yuan. Since 2017, the BICES exhibition has become an important platform for Kohler Engines to showcase its products to both domestic and international construction machinery markets. The application of 5G remote control and new energy sources emerged as new highlights of the 2019 exhibition.

For the first time at the exhibition, Kohler launched its brand-new K-HEM diesel-electric hybrid power unit, which has received widespread industry recognition and garnered significant attention. BICES 2019 opened with great fanfare and achieved complete success. The event featured a grand scale, rich content, and a comprehensive range of exhibits, encompassing both professional competitions and exchanges between manufacturers and end-users. It not only served as a retrospective on the 70-year development of China’s machinery industry—marking the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China and the 40th anniversary of reform and opening-up—but also presented a heartfelt tribute to the 70th birthday of New China. As a long-time user and witness to the development of construction machinery, we are truly delighted to have been able to participate in this remarkable event!

Looking ahead, we recognize that there are two key areas of work that need to be addressed. First, we must introduce advanced machinery and equipment to frontline users and encourage them—through factory-based exchanges and even collaborative partnerships—to adopt and effectively utilize these technologies. During the exhibition, the Association organized a series of important events, including a seminar on the Stage IV Emission Standards and Environmental Information Disclosure for Non-Road Mobile Construction Machinery, the Smart Construction Machinery Conference, and the China Construction Machinery Industry Internet of Things Conference.
