On the afternoon of October 21, the “World Intelligent Connected Vehicle Conference and the 6th China International Energy-saving and New-energy Vehicle Exhibition” (shortened to IEEVChina 2018), jointly hosted by the Beijing Municipal People’s Government and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and co-organized by the Equipment Industry Development Center of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Beijing Municipal Commission of Economy and Information Technology, the China Electronic Information Industry Development Institute, the People’s Government of Shunyi District, Beijing, the Machinery Industry Branch of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, the Chinese Electrical Engineering Society, and the Automotive Knowledge Magazine, with Beijing Zhongqi Sifang Exhibition Co., Ltd. serving as a supporting organizer, successfully concluded at the Beijing National Convention Center.

This year’s exhibition covers an area of 35,000 square meters and features seven major industrial sectors: automobiles, intelligent transportation, the internet, telecommunications, microelectronics, artificial intelligence, and new energy. Over 180 domestic and international companies are showcasing their latest products and technologies. The number of participants in the accompanying forum reached 5,500, while the total number of visitors exceeded 80,000. The exhibition achieved a complete success, with significant breakthroughs in key indicators such as the number of participating brands, the quantity of exhibited vehicles, and the number of professional visitors.

During the expo, Wan Gang, Vice Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference; Miao Wei, Minister of Industry and Information Technology; Chen Jining, Mayor of Beijing; and Li Jianbo, a member of the Party Leadership Group of the Ministry of Transport, visited the expo site to offer their guidance and support.
According to the organizers, the IEEVChina 2018 conference is themed “Opening a New Era for the Automotive Industry.” It features a three-pronged approach—exhibitions, forums, and dynamic events—working in tandem to deliver a wealth of highlights.

         Highlight One:   The seven major sectors cover the entire industrial chain, setting a benchmark for the new energy and intelligent connected vehicle industries.
The exhibition is primarily composed of two major sections: the Exhibition of Energy-Saving and New-Energy Vehicle Achievements, and the International Exhibition of Intelligent Connected Vehicles and Related Industries. Through specialized exhibition areas—including the “Complete Vehicle Exhibition Zone,” “Key Component Exhibition Zone,” “International Exhibition Zone,” “Intelligent Connected Vehicle Showcase Zone,” “Urban Promotion and Application Exhibition Zone,” “Charging Pile and BMS Showcase Zone,” “Smart Transportation Showcase Zone,” “New-Energy and Materials Exhibition Zone,” “Artificial Intelligence and IT Exhibition Zone,” and the “Interactive Experience Comprehensive Exhibition Zone”—the event will comprehensively showcase domestic and international energy-saving and new-energy vehicles, intelligent connected vehicles, key components, upstream and downstream sectors of the industrial chain, as well as cutting-edge technologies and the latest achievements in related fields.

         Highlight 2: Both Chinese and foreign companies are highly enthusiastic about participating, with numerous highlights.
The exhibition covers seven major sectors: the automotive industry, the intelligent transportation industry, the internet industry, the telecommunications industry, the microelectronics industry, the artificial intelligence industry, and the new energy industry. In terms of complete vehicles, leading domestic and international passenger and commercial vehicle manufacturers—including FAW Group, Dongfeng Group, SAIC Group, Changan Group, BAIC Group, BYD Auto, Geely Auto, JAC Motors, Chery Auto, Great Wall ORA, Zotye Auto, FAW-Volkswagen, FAW-Toyota, Brilliance BMW, Beijing Hyundai, SAIC-GM, GAC New Energy, GAC Honda, and Hanteng Auto—will showcase their latest cutting-edge technologies as well as energy-efficient and new-energy vehicles and intelligent, connected cars. Also making a collective appearance are emerging automakers such as Great Wall Haval (Leapmotor), WM Motor, Xpeng Motors, and Lechi Motors.

In terms of components and supporting facilities, leading suppliers of power batteries, motors, electric control systems, and materials—including Schaeffler, CITIC Guoan Mengguli, CRRC Times, DASLing, Lanuo New Energy, Bic Battery, Xue Ren Co., Ltd., Hydrogen Pu Chuangneng, Meanwell Electronics, Zhongzi Hengli, Xie’er Electric, Jinli Permanent Magnet, Xin Yuan Power, Tianjin Songzheng, Ideal Motor, Xinwangda, Yima Vanguard, China Metallurgical Southern, CASANDA, Longli Electronics, and Ledan Technology—along with charging infrastructure companies, are showcasing their latest technologies and products in a concentrated exhibition. Companies across the upstream and downstream segments of the industrial chain are actively participating.

More notably, since this conference marks the first time in China that an auto show has been defined under the banner of “intelligent connectivity,” well-known domestic companies from various related industries—including China Mobile, China Unicom, Inspur Group, TuSimple, Euler Car Sharing, Sunlight Mobility, and Huaxia Mobility—have enthusiastically participated. This has created a vibrant scene of synergistic collaboration among automotive manufacturers and companies from industries such as intelligent connectivity, smart mobility, IT, and telecommunications.

         Highlight 3: The debut models and cutting-edge technologies make a collective appearance.
This year’s exhibition features more than 120 vehicles, including the FAW Hongqi concept car and the new Hongqi EV. Hongqi H7 PHEV Several models, including the BAIC ES5, the EADO EV460, and several concept cars, made their debut or were officially launched; among component suppliers and other related enterprises, we’ll see a greater number of innovative technologies and products.

         Highlight 4: Looking Back on Forty Years of Open Cooperation, Ushering in a New Era for the Automotive Industry
The special exhibition area titled “Forty Years of Open Cooperation: Ushering in a New Era for the Automotive Industry.” This area systematically reviews, in chronological order, the milestone events of China’s automotive industry’s 40-year journey of open cooperation, enabling visitors to grasp the main trajectory of China’s automotive industry development. It also looks back on the 40-year evolution of China’s automotive industry’s open cooperation and provides a comprehensive summary of the remarkable achievements made over this period. Different regions present these achievements from multiple perspectives—including leadership attention, automotive industry policy frameworks, standards and regulations, new-energy vehicles, intelligent and connected vehicles, automotive components, international cooperation, industrial maps, and regional industrial cluster development—offering visitors a more nuanced and layered understanding. Two display panels are reserved for inscriptions paying tribute to the past 40 years and looking forward to the future, thereby enhancing interaction and communication with the audience.

         Highlight 5: Pioneering and innovating to build Beijing’s strongest brand in industrial exhibitions and high-end convention and exhibition events.
The “Beijing Intelligent and Connected Vehicle Innovation Cluster” exhibition area showcases various achievements in Beijing’s intelligent and connected vehicles, as well as related industrial chains and sectors. Participating companies include Baidu, Jinghuan Equipment, Didi Chuxing, Pony.ai, WeRide Technology, Wenyu Technology, Meituan-Dianping, JD.com, Voptron, Horizon Robotics, CAS SpaceMap, Weitu Kos, North醒 LiDAR, Newline, DeepGlint, Four Dimensions Map, Datang Telecom, CCID Consulting, Beijing Institute of Product Quality Supervision and Inspection, Shunqian Technology, ZhiDao Network Technology, Qianfang Technology, CheLian TianXia, HuaLi ChuangTong, Leike Defense, and Huada Beidou—representing the entire intelligent and connected vehicle industry chain and related enterprises.

         Highlight 6: A new autonomous driving demonstration zone has been added—drive without a steering wheel!
This year’s exhibition has newly established an autonomous driving demonstration and experience zone, featuring numerous companies including Changan, Baidu, FAW, and BAIC. On-site test rides and demonstrations of autonomous vehicles were held, drawing considerable attention and participation from numerous visitors—crowds of people gathered around.

After five years of refinement and a comprehensive upgrade, IEEVChina 2018 has become the largest, highest-standard, and most technologically advanced international exhibition platform in the fields of energy-saving and new-energy vehicles as well as intelligent and connected vehicles.
